Guinea Pig's
Pipkin, was another PAWSS foster, who arrived with her mother, in 2007. It was a complicated story, where 2 sister were originally bought, but they turned out to be brother and sister, so a litter was born. The owners, asked somebody to sex the babies, kept a daughter and rehomed the rest, however the daughter turned out to be a son and another litter was born. Due to the in-breeding m2 of the babies were born with minute, usless eyes, and 2 were, apparently fine. The little boy (one with small eyes) died when he was 3 months old, but the others grew normally, and we found a lovely lady who would take them all. Just as they were ready to be rehomed, Pipkin had an injury to her back and became paralyised. We decided to keep her, and she did recover, but we were worried incase there was as issue due to the in-breeding, so kept her.
IN 2009 we welcomed 4 guinea pigs to the family, 2 boys and 2 girls, their owners were moving to Australia and they couldn't find anybody the trusted with their pigs. We offered to take them and are flattered the family trusted them to us. The 2 boys are neutered and they all live happily together- they areLola, Popcorn and Pheobe. Sadly Charlie died quite unexpectedly in Sept 2009.
Also in 2009 we took in 3 male piggies, whose owner didn't have the space for them all and was anxious for them to go to a good home. e don't have any really history for them except that they were all rehomes to the previous owner.
Incy is a year old, and paired with Nookie, they were both castrated when they came here.
Nookie is 2 and an abyssinian.
Nipper is about 18 months and we hope will bond with Pipkin.
In November 2009, we also welcomed Nutmeg and Tansy into the family, they were aged about 2. They had been used as breeding stock and had been involved in a rescue which also included 20 rabbits. Tansy was pregnant on arrival, and they were both very timid.
